If you are an art lover, we hope you will stop by to see Iris McCort’s Cityscapes + Seascapes on display in our third floor Art Gallery in January. There will be an Art Reception on Tuesday, January 13 from 6:00-7:30 PM, where you will be able to meet the artist and enjoy light refreshments. Iris McCort was born and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey. Having attended local schools, she became a Special Education teacher and worked in the Jersey City school system for over 30 years. She used art as a medium to get concepts across to her multiply handicapped students. Having grown up in Hoboken with a working waterfront and looking at the NYC skyline every day, with this show, she wanted to express her appreciation of the urban landscape on paper using pastels, watercolors and inks for this. Part of her year is spent on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. The sun, sand and sea have given her dramatic materials to create breezy seascapes.
