Computer Basics and "Mousercizing":
This tutorial is required for those attending the classes who do not have mouse experience. Besides learning to use the mouse, the class also goes over basics of using Windows based programs.
Internet Basics:
You will learn the basics of using Internet Explorer, such as moving between pages and using links. This class is for those with little or no experience with the Internet. Basic computer knowledge or having taken the Computer Basics course is required.
Advanced Searching:
This class is for those who have taken the Internet Basics course or are familiar with using the Internet and wish to advance their searching techniques. Different types of search engines will be discussed, as well as the proper use of Boolean Searching (using and, or, & not).
Email Basics:
You will be able to first get a free Yahoo email account and then learn some of the basics of sending and receiving emails. It is required that you take this class after having taken the Internet Basics class or are already familiar with the Internet.
Microsoft Word Basics:
You will learn Word Basics such as how to open, save, and print a document. We will also cover some basic formatting such as bolding and underlining words.
Library Catalog Basics:
You will learn how to search effectively for items in the catalog. We will also cover how to request items so those with a Hoboken Library Card can have materials sent from other libraries to the Hoboken Library. Basic computer knowledge or having taken the Computer Basics course is required.
Resume Writing:
You will learn how to create or improve your resume. A knowledge of Microsoft Word or the Microsoft Word Basics class is required. It is recommended that you bring a copy of your resume on a floppy disk to class, since time will be given to work on them.
Discs will not be provided.
