2015 BOOK FESTIVAL: BE A HERO… Read, Imagine, and Create!


Celebrating Reading and Literacy
Saturday June 13, 2015
11 am to 5 pm

At Church Square Park, right across the street from the library.


Essay & Poetry Readings in Honor of the 125th Anniversary, of the Hoboken Public Library
On October 2, 2015 the Hoboken Public Library turns 125!  The Library commemorated this historic moment with a reading of memories and inspirational library and book related stories written by our library card holders and local writers. The reading took place at 12:30 PM.Cookies and lemonade were served at the reading.

Programs for Kids

Wizard of Oz Puppet Show
At 11 AM, Company's Coming presented, "The Wizard of Oz", their very popular interactive theatre and puppet show! Children were invited to become characters in the play!

Face Painting
Children had their faces painted with non toxic water based face paints between 12:30 PM and 2 PM.

Card Craft
Just in time for Father's Day, kids made a card for Dad or another special person in their lives! The Craft Tent was open between 2:30 PM-4 PM.

Spider Hero
Kids got to meet a visiting superhero and take pictures between 2:30-4 PM!

Teens Caricature Workshop
Teens learned how to draw fun caricatures at 2:30 PM.

Technology Tent

Between 11 AM and 5 PM, the Technology Tent had a display of the library’s 3D printers and a variety of kits, which provide a fun way to learn about electronics and circuits. There was even a robot!

The knowledgeable library staff assisted Hoboken Library Card holders in learning how they can borrow popular and free eBooks, downloadable eBooks, music, and movies. The library also has great ereference and educational resources like Rosetta Stone and Mango to learn languages and Value Line and Morningstar to check your investments.

Plus there was a New and Used Book Sales and Local Food Vendors between 11 AM-5 PM! The Hoboken Division of Cultural Affairs sponsored Sinatra style singers in Church Square Park for their Sounds of Sinatra Weekend, in celebration of Sinatra's Centennial.
