The Help
On Wednesday, February 24th, the library will feature two book discussions on Kathryn Stockett’s The Help, one at 2:00 PM and one at 6:30 PM. This popular book depicts the civil rights movement during the early 60’s through the experience of three women.
Gender Identity Lecture
On Tuesday, March 16th at 6:00 PM, the library will feature the second program in our Lecture Series at the Hoboken Public Library, Gender Identity with Dr. Cynthia Eller. Dr. Eller is a member of the Department of Religion and Philosophy at Montclair State University and author of Am I a Woman?: A Skeptic’s Guide to Gender.
Chocolate with Chef Maricel Presilla
The third week in March is National Chocolate week. Maricel Presilla who owns two Hoboken restaurants, will give a lecture on March 18th at 6:00 PM, on this sweet treat. Presilla recently had the honor of cooking at the White House.
Bright Star
Jane Campion is a writer, director, and producer. Her latest film Bright Star chronicles the secret love between English poet, John Keats and Fanny Brawne. Join us for a special screening of the film on March 23rd at 2:00 PM.
The Story Sisters Book Discussion
Join us on March 24th at 2:00 and 6:30 for a discussion of Alice Hoffman’s latest novel, The Story Sisters. The novel tells the story of three sisters who must try to navigate their way through life’s obstacles in order to transform from young girls into women.
Kickboxing
Kickboxing is a fun way to get fit. Join us on Tuesday, March 30th at 6:00 PM, for an introductory class with Kickboxing instructor and Hoboken resident James Tricarico. Comfortable clothing is recommended.
